What causes thrush to happen
Thrush organisms are usually found in the bowel. Sometimes the organism enters the vagina if a woman is always wearing tight pants, tights or jeans. Here are other causes of thrush infection in the vagina:
• Oral contraceptive
• Certain antibiotics
• Diabetes
• Pregnancy
• Infection by a woman’s partner
• Vaginal deodorants

Who are likely candidates to have thrush?
Since thrush is found in the bowel, women who regularly wear tight pants or jeans can be more susceptible to vaginal thrush infections. A baby who has oral thrush can also transfer the yeast to the mother’s breast by breastfeeding. Pregnant women and women who use vaginal deodorants that cause irritation are more susceptible to thrush.
